FMP - Week 4 - Part 1

High poly model is finally finished! And with the time saved on my 3Ds work, it's onwards to low poly work and unwrapping.

Doing pretty much my entire character in 3Ds Max before taking it into Zbrush will save me a lot of time in the long run hand making the topology over my high poly model, so I decided to take the liberty of taking a little bit longer to work on my high poly as this project is very much about grasping the art style of Overwatch.

With that in mind though, I have to move on from it eventually, and with 2 weeks left to go it's most definitely time to get on with my texturing and have this model come to life!

Back to my high poly model, the final touches were made to her one blue arm, her shoes and a few more details to the back of her jacket.

Here are the tweaks that I did:

I worried at first that the bionic arm doesn't draw enough attention with how surface level all of the details are, but I need to have faith that it will come to life in the texturing process and with the opacity difference and bright colour in comparison to the rest of her body it should stand out enough.

As seen here I also added some of the more 'techy' lines similar to the ones Sombra has on the back of her jacket connecting these metal structures on her back. I like this and think it ties the whole model together a little more.

Finally I fixed her gun holster as well as her shoes to be more like the concept image shown above and that was my character ready to go on to be textured... eventually!
