My project is making steady progress and is almost ready to take into Zbrush for some detail work.
At the moment I'm just working on the character's jacket and bodice, adding enough armour to the character that she looks fit to belong in Overwatch without going overboard.
The fascinating thing to me about the styleguide of Overwatch is that in every aspect of the game, from the characters to enviroments, organic shapes like faces, skin, even ruins in Anubis are all intertwined with technology in the most subtle and aesthtetically pleasing way.
Take Doomfist for example, as a hero he has clear tribal inspiration with the tattered red fabric around his wasit, bare feet and white markings covering his cheeks and arms. However the main part of his model is the giant fist on one arm, a gauntlet that would look out of place on a model like that unles it was done as well as it is, with the horns and red lights joining the gauntlet to Doomfist's body like it is a part of him.
As an extension of this idea, these red lights and bionic lines cover Doomfist's whole body in subtle ways such as the red light above his brow or the one on the inside of his left wrist, little things that intertwine the bionics in him to the organic shapes of the human body.
Furthermore, what inspires my about Doomfist as an example is that this concept of bionics and technology combining with humans is a theme in all of the Overwatch characters and I wasn't about to let my character be any different, which is why I have implimented similar lights and lines in my own character concept.
