FMP - Week 2 - Part 2


More progress, adding details in 3ds Max. 


I've been gradually adding more details and pieces of armour to my character and here is my progress so far. There is still a ways to go but I believe I am getting there slowly.

Something I struggle with is deciding what kind of details can be added in texturing and what can be added in the high poly sculpt and baked onto the character. The answer is, like most things in art, quite a grey area. 

I've found that unless the piece of tech or detail has large impact on the silhouette of the character when turned to a certain angle, it can be added in the texture phase, but large pieces of geometry that affect the way the model's outline looks needs to be baked. 





(also as a footnote, I can't unsee the fact that my character's hair looks like FFVII's Sephiroth mixed with Jinx from 'League of Legends'.)
